Istanbul & Cappadocia

  • Destination: Turkey / Istanbul & Cappadocia

From the 7 Hills of Istanbul to Central Anatolia
This combination tour takes you to two of the main attractions of Turkey - first in the bustling metropolis of Istanbul and then in the quiet and bizarre lunar landscape of Cappadocia. The metropolis of Istanbul, is not only the only city, which extends over two continents, it also has a historical background of about 2600 Years and thus one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. The Greeks called Byzantium, the Romans, the Ottomans and Constantinople Istanbul. 1600 Years served the city on the Bosporus as capital of three empires. Wherever one turns, one encounters historic artwork: Greek Ruins, Roman columns, Byzantine churches and Ottoman palaces. And when you walk through the narrow streets of the old town, one crosses mosque courtyards, where pigeons occur in swarms, or you can see seller, who hassle with their customers on the street. A delightful mix of city and oriental fairytale! Cappadocia thrilled with its bizarre landscape, which was formed in thousands of years in the volcanic region of Central Anatolia. The distinctive tuff formations, the artistic wealth of the rock-hewn churches and the beautiful setting of the villages dominate the landscape of Cappadocia. Long-span and short hikes through dense valleys burglary, precipitous gorges and deep-cut canyons with many Tuffgebilden enable every visitor into a fairytale world.
